As you may know, Netscape has been in the process of evaluating its products for Year 2000 readiness since 1998.

Browser Products

Netscape is pleased to report that Netscape Communicator and Netscape Navigator versions 2.02 and higher have been certified as Y2K compliant. If you are currently using a browser version below 2.02, you should upgrade now. In general, Netscape recommends that you upgrade your browser to the latest version, Netscape Communicator 4.7, which is available for free download. Browser Update Notice

If you are using an older version of Netscape Navigator or Netscape Communicator (version 4.05 or earlier), you may wish to update your Netscape browser to ensure a continued smooth experience while conducting secure on-line transactions, such as shopping. The current version of Netscape Communicator 4.7 is Free via Download, or you can order it on CD-ROM. Again, if you use Netscape versions 4.06, 4.07, 4.08, 4.51, 4.6, 4.61, or the current version, 4.7, you do not need to upgrade. For more information, click here.

Enterprise Products

Following AOL's acquisition of Netscape and strategic alliance with Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Sun), many Netscape products have undergone a new round of Year 2000 (Y2K) evaluation. Working closely with AOL's Y2K Office, Netscape's Y2K task force has implemented for many products an expanded Y2K testing and documentation procedure that meets with AOL's Year 2000 evaluation criteria.

In addition, Sun|Netscape Alliance (Alliance) products have been reevaluated and documented to comply with the Y2K evaluation and documentation processes of both Sun and AOL. Year 2000 Compliance statements on this website have been updated to reflect our expanded process for ongoing evaluations.
