New Relationships Help Alliance in Its Mission to Provide One Stop Shopping to Business Partners and Other Companies Competing In Today's Net Economy
Announcement Part of New "Full, Speed, Ahead" Initiative to Expand the Scope of Alliance E-Commerce Applications
Palo Alto, Calif. and Mountain View, Calif., (April 26, 1999) - Reaffirming its position as a leading provider of electronic commerce solutions, the Sun-Netscape Alliance today announced four key relationships as part of its mission to provide comprehensive enterprise and e-commerce solutions to help businesses thrive in the Net Economy. New relationships with Andromedia, Net Perceptions, Selectica and Trilogy will make it possible for the Alliance to provide one-stop shopping to its business partners and other companies.
The relationships are part of an aggressive three-tiered Alliance initiative dubbed "Full, Speed, Ahead," to expand the scope of its e-commerce applications through technology relationships, quicker deployment of its e-commerce applications and increased product innovation to help customers compete more effectively in the Net Economy. Today's announcement launches the first phase of the initiative, and will enable the Alliance to provide its customers with guided selling and one-to-one marketing capabilities.
Currently, the Alliance offers an integrated family of applications that support vital business processes including online procurement, selling, service and support - all integrated with existing business functions that give companies a competitive advantage when deployed on the Internet. It also continues to use third-party applications that offer specialized features requested by customers, and expects to announce additional technology relationships as part of the "Full, Speed, Ahead" initiative in the second half of 1999.
"As Visteon Automotive Systems continues to grow and offer its global customers technology solutions that are driven by consumer demands, it needs a reliable, flexible, state-of-the-art integrated supply chain," said Dave Bent, Director Enterprise Processes and Systems. "The Alliance's new initiatives and partnerships will enable us to customize our e-commerce network to fit our business needs, gain a better understanding of the needs of our customers and suppliers, and ultimately leverage the strength of the Net Economy to help us meet and exceed our customers expectations in areas such as quality, delivery, cost and innovation."
Steve Savignano, senior vice president of the application product division for the Sun-Netscape Alliance, said "The Sun-Netscape Alliance offers the products and services to put businesses online easily and quickly, and the relationships announced today will further our position as the only one-stop e-commerce offering. The Sun-Netscape Alliance maintains strong leadership among IT vendors in providing flexible e-commerce solutions, and a recent IDC report ranks Netscape first in the industry for total sales of electronic commerce applications in 1998."
The Alliance's relationships with Selectica and Trilogy will help provide companies and consumers with guided online selling assistance, such as how to package goods or where to channel products. Companies will gain the capacity to simplify the online shopping process for their customers, improve the accuracy of orders and increase customer satisfaction and loyalty. Consumers can configure products and specifications according to their needs, and maintain more control over the purchasing process.
In addition, through relationships with Andromedia and Net Perceptions, the Alliance will help provide one-to-one marketing to businesses to tailor their product offerings for customers based on personal profiles, information and behavior. Companies will be able to turn online browsers into buyers, increasing the dollar amount of orders and improving customer loyalty. Consumers will benefit from automatic access to personalized product offerings for an efficient and enjoyable online shopping experience.
The "Full, Speed, Ahead" initiative and strategic relationships will help current Alliancecustomers increase the functionality of their e-commerce solutions, and also will enable the Alliance to broaden its reach within the industry to provide e-commerce solutions to new customers.
