Digex Teams Up With Sun-Netscape Alliance to Increase Security and Performance of Web Sites

Joint Effort to Develop a Highly Scalable and Secure Implementation of Netscape Enterprise Server on Solaris Operating Environment

BELTSVILLE, MD, May 05, 1999 - Digex, Incorporated, a leading provider of Web hosting and application hosting solutions, today announced a joint effort with the Sun-Netscape Alliance to further enhance Digex's servers for improved security, increased scalability, and higher performance. Digex currently manages over 1300 servers, including those deployed for Web sites, intranets and extranets, for businesses worldwide.

Digex has teamed with the Sun-Netscape Alliance to integrate Netscapeg Enterprise Server 3.6 software into its automated UNIX standard software bundle in order to ensure consistency, security and manageability across Solaris-based Web servers.

In addition, Digex has separately agreed with Sun to optimize the implementation of Netscape Enterprise Server on Solaris through Web, database and application server stress tests.

The joint effort will deliver a superior implementation of Sun Solaris and Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6, offering businesses a hosting service with advanced security features for deploying or upgrading a Web site.
