MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., (January 20, 1999) - Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced that it is working in support of the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion to launch a Y2K global awareness and education campaign. "I welcome Netscape's efforts to provide businesses and consumers information on the Y2K problem through Netcenter," said John Koskinen, chair of the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion. "I encourage others to follow Netscape's lead and support the exchange of information about Y2K experiences and solutions, which is critical to the many organizations working to prepare systems for the Year 2000."

The Netcenter Y2K page offers people access to information on the Y2K problem and what individuals and organizations need to know to avoid its associated issues. The page offers extensive lists of links for government, international, business and consumer sites on Y2K. In addition, a Y2K icon is available for distribution from Netcenter and features a Netcenter-driven countdown to the year 2000. The icon also links users to the important information located on Netcenter's Y2K site.
