Netscape Netcenter Portal Exceeds Ten Million Members

Netcenter Named as One of the Top Portals in PC Magazine's Top 100 Web Sites

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., (January 5, 1999) - Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced that its Internet portal site, Netscape Netcenter, has surpassed 10 million members. Netcenter membership offers consumers best-of-breed content and services that empower them to get the things they want online. This announcement marks the continued growth of Netcenter. Since July 1998, the site has rapidly added millions of members, more than doubling its membership rate; has introduced numerous channels and services; and has grown to become one of the Internet's leading portal sites. In addition, Netcenter was recently recognized as one of the top portals in PC Magazine's year-end list of the Top 100 Web Sites.

  • Smart Browsing Find sites quickly and easily with this unique service that allows a user to type in common words or names into the location field of Netscape Communicator to find the site that best suits the particular product, topic, company, or service the user is seeking.

Netscape plans to launch a variety of new services on Netcenter in the coming months. The services to be launched will target Channels, Commerce, Computing and Internet, Communication, Search and Directory, and Business to Business areas on Netcenter.
