Netscape Kicks Off "Netscape Communicator 4.5 Smart Sweepstakes"

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., (October 27, 1998) - Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced the "Netscape Communicator 4.5 Smart Sweepstakes," a free online promotion that offers users a chance to win a variety of "Smart" prizes when they download and register for the newly released Netscape Communicator 4.5 client software (http://home.netscape.com/download/index.html). Netscape Communicator 4.5 integrates with the services on the popular Netscape Netcenter portal site to deliver Smart Browsing capabilities and streaming multimedia content, and includes high-performance Internet Messaging with improved support for roaming users.

The grand prize winner for the Smart Sweepstakes, which starts today and ends November 24th, will receive a Sony VAIO 505 SuperSlim Notebook computer, and 50 first prize winners will receive a Palm Computing Palm III connected organizer.
