Netscape and Snap Announce Agreement for Unlimited Distribution of Netscape Communicator

Netscape Expands Unlimited Distribution Program and Demonstrates Opportunities to Customize Communicator
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (September 243, 1998) - Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) and Snap, the free Internet portal service jointly owned and operated by NBC and CNET (NASDAQ: CNWK), today announced an agreement to distribute a customized version of the market-leading Netscape Communicator software. With this announcement, Snap and Netscape are offering consumers advanced Internet browsing and communications software customized for Snap's portal service.
This agreement marks the continued expansion of Netscape's Unlimited Distribution Program to include 14,600 companies that have forecasted distribution of more than 156 million copies of Netscape Communicator software. Under the agreement, Snap will offer a customized version of Netscape Communicator software featuring Snap's default home page, customized Snap bookmarks, and tool bar and menu item integration. The free, Snap-branded version of Netscape Communicator software is available to download at the Snap web site, at http://www.snap.com.

The Unlimited Distribution Program is part of Netscape's ongoing effort to distribute Netscape Communicator and Netscape Navigator freely to Internet users throughout the world. As part of the program, participating companies can download and redistribute Netscape Navigator and Netscape Communicator client software to their customers. With total participation topping 14,600, Netscape's Unlimited Distribution Program is expected to deliver more than 156 million copies to users over the next 12 months. In addition, more than half of the 156 million copies of Netscape client software will be distributed in international markets, demonstrating the growth Netscape has seen outside North America over the past few months.
