NETSCAPE ANNOUNCES 225 NEW CUSTOMER DESIGN WINS FOR NETSCAPE SUITESPOT, COMMUNICATOR AND COMMERCEXPERT SOFTWARE

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (December 3, 1997) -- Netscape Communications Corporation (NSCP) today announced that it has achieved more than 225 new customer design wins, which demonstrate strong momentum for Netscape SuiteSpot 3.0, Netscape Communicator and Netscape CommerceXpert software in the first three quarters of 1997. Netscape defines design wins as customers who have chosen Netscape software for significant corporate messaging solutions or implementing business-critical Intranet and Extranet applications. These 225 new design wins bring the total to 425 that have begun deployment of Netscape software for messaging or Java/JavaScript applications. Netscape design wins now encompass more than 4 million seats in industries such as finance, hotel, health care, management consulting, paper and office products, semiconductor manufacturing and utilities. At his keynote at the Netscape European Developer Conference in Paris, Jim Barksdale, president and CEO of Netscape, also today announced that European customers account for 100 of the 425 design wins.

Hilliard, W.L. Lyons, Inc., Southern California Gas, Synopsys, Inc., Travelocity by the SABRE Group, US Army, US Navy, Watson Wyatt and Xylan Corporation. Netscape's European design wins, which represent 100 of the 425 design wins, include customers such as Alleanza Assicurazione, Audi, Britannia Building Society, La Repubblica, Liberty Life, Marlink, Renault, SAAB, Salomon, Shell and Telefonica.
