NAPERVILLE, Ill., and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (October 6, 1997) -- National Education Training Group (NETg) and Netscape Communications Corporation today announced an alliance to develop and distribute the preferred media-based training courseware for those developing on the Netscape ONE open network environment platform. The courseware will provide developers with the latest and most comprehensive information available about creating robust, Crossware applications effectively and efficiently. It will also be designed to equip developers with an intuitive understanding of the best combination of tools and technologies available.
The relationship provides NETg with exclusive access to the expertise in the Netscape developer group for the collaborative development of skills-training curriculum on Netscape ONE technologies including Dynamic HTML, Java and JavaScript. A comprehensive library of expert advice will then become available via computer-based training (CBT) and Web-based training (WBT) for developers. The first of these courses is expected to be available in early 1998.
"Both NETg and the Netscape developer group have been actively listening to feedback from developers," said Lee Ritze, director of market and product strategy at NETg. "We've taken their suggestions, consulted the appropriate experts and created comprehensive, high-quality courseware designed to provide developers with the knowledge base and training necessary to efficiently create leading-edge applications."
"Netscape chose to work with NETg because of its expertise and reputation as a leader in providing premium educational material on information technology," said Danny Shader, vice president of partner and developer relations at Netscape. "Netscape is committed to providing developers with the best resources, tools and training that will enable them to build leading-edge, Crossware applications on the Netscape ONE platform. Our alliance with NETg enables the knowledge and expertise of the Netscape developer group to be translated into a high-quality media-training library."
Netscape recently announced 200 design wins representing two million seats in 200 companies using Netscape's solutions for Java/JavaScript applications and messaging. That, combined with the fact that the Netscape developer community now exceeds 26,000 members is strong evidence of the momentum behind Netscape ONE technologies. These advanced training materials will provide Netscape's developer community with a strong knowledge pool to draw from when designing and deploying these next-generation solutions.
"NETg's clients want skills training in the latest Web technologies" said Chuck Moran, NETg's President. "Because Netscape is a leading Internet solutions provider, our strengthened alliance with them enables us to deliver information that is essentially 'from the source' of the Internet revolution. We know our audience will notice the positive effect of having Netscape's expertise built into our products."
The courseware will address Netscape ONE technologies including Dynamic HTML, JavaScript and CORBA. Courseware will also focus on elements of building Crossware applications related to graphic design and animation, connecting to a database and developing Extranet applications. The courses developed as a result of this alliance will form the preferred media-based curriculum for Netscape developers. Both companies will market and distribute the courses.
Each title will be developed with NETg's SkillBuilder architecture for both CBT and WBT and include NETg's Precision Learning feature that allows a user to identify topics they have already mastered and only focus training efforts where needed.
