TOKYO AND MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (June 4, 1997) -- Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced that it will deliver the final versions of Netscape SuiteSpot 3.0 integrated server suite and Netscape Communicator client software at Netscape's DevCon, the company's Internet developers conference next week in San Jose, Calif. Netscape's Marc Andreessen made the announcement in a keynote at Networld+Interop in Tokyo today. The Fortune 500 attendees of Netscape's conference for enterprises designing and deploying Intranets will be among the first to receive the final versions of the award-winning client and server software. As part of "The Great Internet Tune Up" promotion Netscape is making the new software available online for download and purchase from a broad host of the most popular sites on the Internet.

In addition, for the first time ever Netscape is making international versions of its software available just weeks after the US availability. The company today announced international beta versions of Netscape SuiteSpot servers and Netscape Communicator with final product to begin shipping within 30 days. International languages include: German, French, Japanese, Italian, Swedish, Danish, Dutch, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Netscape estimates that more than 60 million people have used Netscape client and server software worldwide.

"With the shipment of Netscape SuiteSpot and Netscape Communicator, Netscape is delivering on its promise to extend its Internet technology leadership to enterprise messaging and groupware and to provide a platform for implementing business-critical applications for Intranets and Extranets," said Marc Andreessen, senior vice president of technology at Netscape. "Companies are quickly realizing that Netscape solutions enable cost savings and deliver a high return on investment. Our goal is to rapidly increase the number of 'Design Wins,' organizations who are deploying more than 500 seats of Netscape software, within 30 days after the products ship."

According to a first quarter 1997 study from Creative Networks more than 57 percent of the 52 organizations with more than 5,000 users studied are running Netscape Web server software as the primary Web server for their Intranet. By comparison, 34 percent of those studied are primarily using Microsoft Web server software and 17 percent are using Lotus Domino Web server software.

"As one of the largest electronics computer companies in the world, using Netscape software we've already developed a leading-edge Intranet to improve communication and increase productivity among our more than 45,000 employees and more than 100,000 affiliates."
