LOTUS TO SHIP NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR WITH LOTUS PRODUCTS


ANAHEIM, Calif. (November 6, 1996) -- At the Domino Web Developers Conference held here, Lotus Development Corp. today announced its joint plans with Netscape Communications Corporation for Lotus to ship Netscape Navigator 3.0 with selected Lotus products, including the Notes client family and Lotus SmartSuite. Lotus Notes 4.5, is the first Lotus product planned for shipment with Netscape's browser product.

"Today's customers want openness, interoperability and simple delivery of product," said Jeff Papows, Lotus' president. "The market response to Netscape Navigator has been phenomenal and we plan to make it simple for Netscape Navigator users to leverage the popular browser they've chosen with Lotus' innovative products for interactive and collaborative Web applications. This is another step in Lotus strategy to integrate Notes clients with a variety of browser applications and browser components."

LOTUS DEMONSTRATES COMMITMENT TO OPENNESS AND CONNECTIVITY
Lotus has announced that users will be able to access the Lotus Domino 4.5 server's rich enterprise messaging facilities and collaborative groupware functionality from Netscape Navigator or any Web browser. Lotus' Domino 4.5 is Lotus' interactive Web application server, now in beta testing. Last week, Lotus also announced Lotus Weblicator for browsers, which brings Lotus' world-class replication technology to standard Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and provides browser users with the ability to selectively pre-fetch Web pages, categorize and annotate them, and search Web sites off- line.
