PRUDENTIAL SECURITIES USES NETSCAPE SOFTWARE TO CREATE NEW INTRANET LINKING FINANCIAL ADVISORS AND CLIENTS

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and NEW YORK (November 4, 1996) -- Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) and Prudential Securities Incorporated announced today that Prudential has licensed Netscape client and server software to create an Intranet connecting clients, financial advisors and the firm's internal resources throughout the United States. Netscape Navigator client software, the Netscape SuiteSpot server family and Netscape FastTrack server software are the products that will be used.

"Through our Intranet, we will be able to provide our 5,700 U.S. Financial Advisors with strong ability to communicate with clients and to share information," said William H. Anderson, executive vice president at Prudential Securities. "We expect it to reduce costs, increase productivity and enhance internal communication with important corporate resources. This new license provides Netscape software to all 17,000 employees' desktops at PSI."

"Prudential Securities is taking advantage of open Internet technology and Netscape software to create, manage and intelligently distribute information and applications on its Intranet," said Mike Homer, senior vice president of marketing at Netscape. "With its new Intranet, Prudential Securities will receive excellent communications and collaboration capabilities."

The new Intranet is currently being piloted in 18 locations throughout the country and will be rolled out nationally by year-end 1996 to the firm's 270 domestic branches. Thirty branches overseas will be linked to the Intranet during 1997. Through its Intranet, Prudential Securities Financial Advisors will be able to receive and send electronic mail to clients.

The use of the Intranet will greatly enhance client communications. The Intranet will expand Prudential Securities' internal communications capabilities, providing instantaneous access to research reports, as well as to a broad variety of other corporate resources including human resources and benefits information.
