(October 10, 1996) -- SOFTBANK Exposition and Conference Company, the leading producer of educational technology events, today announced that it will be co-sponsoring "Smart Sounds: Music for the Planet," a concert to benefit the conservation programs of the Rainforest Alliance. "Smart Sounds" is scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. at New York's City Center Theater and will feature the talents of Jackson Browne, Rosanne Cash, Bruce Cockburn, Marc Cohn, Steve Earle, Lisa Loeb, special guest Carly Simon and an all-star band featuring Cliff Carter, Steve Jordan, G.E. Smith, Danny Kortchmar, Warren Haynes and T-Bone Wolk. Performers will play Gibson SmartWood guitars, the first-ever line of environmentally friendly guitars made from wood harvested under strict environmental standards and certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
SOFTBANK Expos is co-sponsoring "Smart Sounds" in conjunction with the Netscape Internet Developers' Conference, scheduled for October 16-18, 1996 at the New York Hilton and Towers in New York City. SOFTBANK Expos will be offering registered conference attendees free tickets to "Smart Sounds" on a first-come, first-served basis at the Hilton and Towers. The Netscape Internet Developers' Conference will focus on developers building enterprise applications and content for corporate Intranets and Web sites. The three-day conference is part of an ongoing educational initiative for Intranet and Internet developers, and will feature session tracks geared to meet the needs of corporate software developers, independent software vendors, and enterprise Web masters.
