NETSCAPE ANNOUNCES RELATIONSHIP WITH PHYSICIANS' ONLINE TO PROVIDE SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS FOR PHYSICIAN AND HEALTH CARE INTRANET MARKETPLACE


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (October 7, 1996) -- Netscape Communications Corporation (NASD: NSCP) today announced an agreement with Physicians' Online, Inc. to provide the company with Netscape client and server software for its Internet-based physician network. Building private Intranets since 1994, Physicians' Online (POL) will also utilize Netscape software to expand its development of Intranets for health care organizations. The agreement features full-service technology and development support along with Netscape Navigator client software and Netscape SuiteSpot server software. Physicians' Online is also using Netscape Commercial Applications software internally.

"POL will distribute our software to a major share of the physician market and provide our cross-platform, open software solutions to its many health care Intranet clients."

The Physicians' Online network is a leading, active online service for physicians. Netscape's open software provides Physicians' Online the flexibility to use its existing hardware platform and servers to convert its entire physician membership base to its new Internet standards-based network.

Physicians' Online will expand its distribution of Netscape Navigator Internet client software and will also offer the new Netscape Navigator 3.0 software to its physician members and Intranet clients. Netscape Navigator 3.0, a major release of Netscape's easy to use, powerful Internet client software, integrates new security features and a suite of Web-based applications, including electronic mail and news. Additional sophisticated software features include collaboration technology for Internet telephony and shared whiteboards and support for new media capabilities including Live3D, LiveAudio and LiveVideo. Netscape Navigator 3.0 software is available on virtually all major platforms, including Windows 95, Windows 3.1, Macintosh and Unix.
