PETER CURRIE JOINS NETSCAPE AS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (April 5, 1995) -- Netscape Communications Corporation today announced that Peter L.S. Currie, 38, has joined the company as chief financial officer, overseeing all financial operations. Currie had previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of McCaw Cellular Communications, a leading provider of wireless communications services, and as a principal with Morgan Stanley & Co., Incorporated.

Effective immediately, Currie becomes part of Netscape Communications' senior management team, which has been assembled over the company's one-year history. The team includes senior executives with experience from a variety of Fortune 500 and technology companies.

"Peter Currie brings to Netscape a unique blend of corporate and investment banking experience working with fast-growing businesses and markets," said Jim Barksdale, president and chief executive officer of Netscape Communications. "In his years at McCaw Cellular and Morgan Stanley, Peter demonstrated his tremendous ability to think strategically and to forge key deals and partnerships -- skills that will now help us build Netscape into an even more important force in the marketplace."

From 1989 to 1994, Currie held senior executive positions with McCaw Cellular Communications, serving most recently as executive vice president of corporate development. In that position, he directed the company's strategy for making equity investments in technology companies, and played a key role in the merger of AT&T and McCaw Cellular. Prior to that position, he served as chief financial officer and executive vice president, overseeing all major financial transactions McCaw Cellular conducted during that period.

Before coming to McCaw, Currie held a variety of positions at Morgan Stanley, including principal in the Investment Banking Division's Media and Communications Group. Over that time, he was involved with a broad range of mergers and acquisitions and worked with broadcast, publishing, cable, and entertainment companies.

Currie holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University in Stanford, California, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
