MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - October 23, 2001 - Tired of wearing the same worn-out costume every year? Looking to make your Halloween party a real scream? Got some great pictures of that incredible costume you put together last year that you'd like to share for a chance to win a great prize? Visit Netscape.com and CompuServe this Halloween season to find enough tips and tricks to satisfy even the most demanding hobgoblin.

Netscape Says "Happy Halloween"

Netscape's Halloween feature, easily accessible on the Netscape homepage (http://www.netscape.com) through November 1, offers a wide variety of cool, creative and practical tips designed to spice up Halloween celebrations, add new twists to old costume ideas, or simply entertain with a range of spooky celebrity specials, message boards and polls. Netscape also features a "Freaky Photo Contest," offering visitors a chance to submit their favorite Halloween photos on a Web page of their own creation for a chance to win a camera from RitzCamera.com. They simply need to click on the "Freaky Photo Contest" link, then follow the directions to build their own Web page using Netscape's My Webpage, and enter up to three of their best "freaky" Halloween photos for a chance to win.

In addition to the "Freaky Photo Contest" and a ghost sightings message board that allows visitors to share their real-life ghost stories, Netscape's 'Happy Halloween' features a Halloween party planning guide, with advice and hints on throwing an unforgettable Halloween bash, making spooky decorations and working with your kids to design a memorable, but affordable costume. Netscape's 'Happy Halloween' also offers parents valuable Halloween safety tips to help make Trick-or-Treating as safe as it is fun, with advice from leading content partners such as Oxygen.com and Better Homes and Gardens, as well as AOL Time Warner sources like Parenting.com. And for Halloween events and activities in your area, Netscape has linked to AOL's Digitalcity.com to provide up-to-date listings of local concerts, parties and other fun Fall festivities taking place right in your own backyard.

Other featured content contained in Netscape's 'Happy Halloween' feature includes PBS.org's new look at some old mysteries and unexplained phenomena, such as the Salem witches, the disappearance of the Jamestown Colony and an unexplained death at Stonehenge. TVGUIDE.com opens the vault to reveal new insights and background on some of your favorite mummy movies of the past, such as Boris Karloff's 1932 classic, The Mummy, Lon Chaney Jr.'s The Mummy's Tomb, as well as some you may never have heard of, such as the lesser-known Mexican entry, La Azteca Momia - The Aztec Mummy. And for some Halloween content you can really sink your teeth into, E! Online features a list of the Top 20 Vampire performances of all time -- ranging from Brad Pitt, in Interview With a Vampire, to Bela Lugosi's classic performance in the original Dracula, of 1931. Netscape is also featuring a custom message board asking visitors to recount chilling tales of their own ghost sightings that is guaranteed to raise some hairs.

CompuServe Offers 'Frightfully Fun' Halloween Feature

CompuServe is offering some 'frightfully fun' Halloween programming of its own at, http://member.compuserve.com/home/halloween.jsp, or for CompuServe members at, "Keyword: Halloween." For some online diversion, try CompuServe's "Trick or Treat Fun & Games," for cool Halloween games, quizzes and trivia that will put you in the mood for fake blood, rubber bats and candy corn. For instance, you can test your knowledge of ghostly beings, ghoulish creatures and ghastly rituals by taking the interactive "Darkside Quiz." Or for some more lighthearted fun, try a Halloween variation on the famous "Whack-a-Mole" game with CompuServe's "Whack-a-Ghoul," which challenges your mouse-clicking skills on a variety of ghoulish, animated targets. And if you're in search of some great seasonal recipes, CompuServe and Better Homes and Gardens have you covered with 'spooktacular' Halloween treats such as "Cauldron Cupcakes," "Jack-O-Lantern Pizza," and "Brain Salad." CompuServe's Halloween package also includes "Everything Pumpkin," with tips on how to carve, cook and get creative with everyone's favorite orange gourd.
