MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - March 22, 2001 - Netscape Communications, a subsidiary of AOL Time Warner Inc. (NYSE: AOL), today announced the launch of a comprehensive online Tax Center on Netscape (www.netscape.com) and exclusive tax offerings for small businesses on Netscape Netbusiness (www.netbusiness.com). According to experts, 40% of all Americans wait until April 15th to file their taxes. Netscape's Tax Center gives last-minute filers convenient, one-stop access to everything they need to learn about and file their taxes by the April 15th deadline. By providing a cross-section of leading tax news and tips from the most popular financial publications, as well as interactive calculation tools and other resources, Netscape.com's Tax Center and Netscape Netbusiness tax content helps visitors use their time more efficiently as the tax season draws to a close.

Netscape.com's Tax Center

Netscape.com makes online filing quick and easy with direct access to Quicken's TurboTax application, featured right on the opening page. In the event that users require additional tax forms, Netscape provides links for downloading federal and state tax forms for both businesses and individuals. In addition, Netscape has provided interactive tools that make calculations easy. Filling out a W-4, calculating income before taxes or taxes on a bonus, and deducting mortgage payments, are all made simpler by Netscape's numerous planning calculators. Netscape.com's Tax Center also features a wide array of tax news and resources from trusted financial Web sites.

  • In "Tax News," leading financial columnists provide timely information on issues such as how to survive an audit, how to turn losses into credit, and the top ten 401(k) mistakes.
  • In the "Tax Resources" section, contributors from top online publications provide background on local tax regulations, how to pay your taxes online, and the tax rate schedules for 2001.
  • "Tax Basics" answers all of those questions that inexperienced taxpayers need to know but were afraid to ask -- from the marriage penalty and estate planning to the best way to find a tax professional
  • Netscape.com's Tax Center also provides a message board for visitors interested in sharing their tax horror stories.

Netbusiness Tax Feature
