Netscape Custom Netcenter Delivers Small Business Portal for HP Brio PC Customers
(Sept. 1, 1999) - Netscape Communications today announced that Hewlett Packard has licensed Netscape's custom Internet portal service, Netscape Custom Netcenter, to deliver a Small Business portal as part of HP's new line of Brio business PCs. Netscape also announced today that several new groups have adopted Custom Netcenter, including The Dialog Corporation, the Sun Netscape Alliance and Marshall & Ilsley Corporation. These companies join a growing list of over one hundred Netscape Custom Netcenter customers, including Federal Express and Lucent Technologies.

Sun-Netscape Alliance Announces iPlanet Commerce Integration Suite for Building Online Trading Communities that Leverage Existing Systems Cross-Company
(August 30, 1999) - The Sun-Netscape Alliance today unveiled iPlanet Commerce Integration Suite, a new suite of e-commerce application and server software that enables companies to build and deploy online trading communities that tie together customers, partners and suppliers and leverage existing systems internally and cross corporate boundaries. Netscape Provides Quick Upgrade to Strong Encryption Browser, Enhancing Secure Shopping and E-Commerce on the Internet
(August 25, 1999) - Netscape Communications today announced that users of Netscape Communicator 4.61 client software can upgrade their browser's encryption for enhanced security for shopping and e-commerce on the Internet. Previously, customers would have to download a full version of the browser to upgrade to US-grade encryption; now customers can quickly upgrade by downloading a small file (36KB) from the Netscape SmartUpdate service. Users can upgrade their browsers from international-grade encryption (56-bit) to US-grade encryption (128-bit) in seconds, making online shopping a safer experience and allowing for online banking and bill paying, as many Web sites require 128-bit encryption. Upgrading to 128-bit security also allows Netscape Communicator users to improve the security of their encrypted emails.

50,000 Web Developers Download and Test Open Source Mozilla Browser, the Basis for Netscape Navigator 5.0
(August 16, 1999) - Netscape, a subsidiary of America Online, Inc., today announced that external developer support for mozilla.org has more than doubled since the beginning of the year, underlining the growing momentum for the organization chartered with managing the open source development initiative for Netscape's Communicator codebase. According to statistics released by mozilla.org, more than 50,000 open source testers throughout the world have downloaded and tested the milestone 7 release of the mozilla browser, providing contributions and feedback that will help to deliver the leading browser in the industry.

Netscape Communicator Leads International Browser Development with Support for 23 Languages on Multiple Platforms
(June 24, 1999) - Netscape today announced that Netscape Communicator client software is available in more languages and on more platforms than any other browser on the market today. Netscape Communicator software is now available in 23 languages on over a half-dozen platforms due to the joint development initiatives between IBM and Netscape, giving over 200 million Internet users in 125 countries the opportunity to use Netscape Communicator in their native language. Sun Extends Reach of Java(TM) 2 Platform, Standard Edition to Millions of Client Users Worldwide; Netscape, AOL to Provide Browser Integration
(June 16, 1999) - Sun Microsystems, Inc., today announced separate initiatives with America Online and its subsidiary, Netscape, that reinforce growing support of the Java(TM) 2 Platform, Standard Edition. Japanese Version of Netscape Communicator Synchronizes with Palm Computing (R) Platform Devices
(June 15, 1999) - Netscape today announced that the Japanese version of Communicator 4.6 features new Calendar capabilities to work seamlessly with 3Com Palm Computing platform devices, which represent 72 percent of the worldwide personal companion market according to IDC. The new release gives mobile Communicator users fast data access to the Palm Computing platform with the synchronization of Communicator's Address Book, Mail and Calendar. The new Japanese language version of Communicator's Calendar client software is downloadable free of charge today from Netscape Netcenter.

Sun-Netscape Alliance Expands Plans for Integrating XML into E-Commerce Applications and Services

Netscape Closes Acquisition of AtWeb
(January 6, 1999) Netscape has closed the acquisition of AtWeb Inc., a leading online services company. Netscape issued 3.36 million shares of Netscape stock to purchase 100 percent of AtWeb stock and options. The company has accounted for this transaction as a pooling of interests. Founded in 1996, Sunnyvale-based AtWeb is a privately held company. Netscape plans to maintain AtWeb as its wholly owned subsidiary, with AtWeb reporting into the Netscape Netcenter division.
