ORGANIZE THAT CLUTTER
Is it time to clean up your bookmarks? Select Bookmarks: Edit Bookmarks (or Ctrl-B). Create a new bookmark folder by choosing File: New Folder, give it a name (for example, My Hobbies), and click OK. Then drag bookmarks relating to your hobbies to your new folder.

SPEED DOWNLOADS
If it's rush hour on the Information Superhighway in your area, don't automatically select the site geographically closest to you to download. Pick a site that is in a time zone that will have less web traffic.

SPEED DOWNLOADS, PART II
Your screensaver could zap your download session if you neglect to turn it off before you begin. To do so in Windows 95, right-click any space on your desktop, click Properties: Screen Saver, and select the None option.

HAS A BOOKMARKED PAGE CHANGED SINCE YOUR LAST VIEWING?
To find out, select Bookmarks: Edit Bookmarks and then click View: Update Bookmarks. When the What's New? dialog box comes up, click the Start Checking button. If a page has changed, Navigator lists it alongside a distinct, accentuated icon.

USE THE MOST RECENT VERSION
Netscape continuously adds new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to Communicator, so be sure you always have the latest version. Choose About Communicator, on the Help menu, to see what version you currently have; then visit Netscape Download to find out if you have the latest version.

REVISITING A PAGE USING HISTORY
Navigator maintains a history list of pages you have recently viewed. From the Communicator menu, choose History (or press Ctrl-H), and then select the page title. Under Windows and Unix, the History window offers page titles you've viewed during one or more sessions. Under the Mac OS, the History window displays a page's title and its URL for the current session (until you exit the application). For more tips on managing your History list, choose Help Contents from the Help menu, go to the Contents window, and type "history".

AUTOMATIC ADDRESSING
You don't have to keep your mailbox stuffed with old messages in order to keep email addresses; Address Book can remember them for you. Simply click on the email address of the person you wish to add to your address book, and Messenger will display an address card for you to fill in. Then whenever you want to send a message to that person, simply start typing the name and the address will be added for you. Now it's time to clean out that mailbox!

STOPPING ANIMATION
If you're a PC user and a dancing web animation annoys you or you want to get a closer look at one screen of an animation, you can stop the animation by selecting View-Stop Animation (or pressing Alt-V-A). It will remain stopped until you click Reload or go to another page.

DEALING WITH FRAMES
It's easy to print a page from a frame. Just make sure the page is active by clicking in or highlighting some text on the page, and then select Print, on the File menu. If you want to know the exact URL of a page in a frame, click your right mouse button (Mac users click and hold the mouse) and select Open Frame in New Window. The URL will display in the Netsite box of the new window. To get back to your original frame set, close the new window.

SHOW OR HIDE NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR TOOLBARS
You can open and close Navigator toolbars, located at the top of the Navigator window, to allow more space on your screen. Simply click on the arrows to the left to open and close individual toolbars.

READ THE FINE PRINT
Navigator lets you change the font size so you can read any page comfortably. Windows users can select View from the menu bar and click Increase Font or Decrease Font.

CREATE DESKTOP SHORTCUTS
Navigator can put links to frequently visited sites directly on your desktop. While on a page you visit frequently, reduce the size of your browser window so your desktop shows. Then simply click the Page Proxy icon next to the Netsite field, and drag the link onto your desktop.

NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR GUESSES THE ADDRESS
If you have been to a site before but are not sure of the address, just start typing the letters you think are in the address. Navigator checks the address you are typing and tries to fill in the full URL for you (works on PCs only). If you see several similar addresses, press the down arrow to scroll down and click the one you want.

BROWSE WHILE DOWNLOADING
Downloads can take an hour or more of your time, but you don't have to waste it. Open another Navigator browser window by clicking File and then New Navigator Window, and cruise away.

SKIP THE HTTP://WWW AND THE .COM
It's not necessary to type http://www and .com in the Netsite box. Just type the main word - for example, netscape - and Navigator will fill in the rest for you.

REMEMBERING PASSWORDS
You won't forget your passwords anymore if you attach a note to your bookmark for a site. Open Bookmark Editor from the main menu by selecting Bookmarks on the Communicator menu. Right-click the bookmark for the password-protected site, and select Bookmark Properties. Type or cut and paste the notes you want to remember in the Description box. The keyboard shortcut for Bookmark Editor is Ctrl-B. Access your notes in the same way. You will still have to remember one password, though - the password that protects your bookmarks from prying eyes.

QUICK BOOKMARKS
Save the addresses of pages you want to remember by pressing Ctrl-D while you are on the page you want to save. You can also select the Bookmarks menu at the top of your screen and choose Add Bookmarks.

HOW TO SUSPEND AND RESUME DOWNLOADS
It's frustrating to have to disconnect from your dial-up connection in the middle of a download. Navigator 4 lets you cancel downloads and resume them later, right where you left off, by storing the partial file in a cache. Just click the Cancel button in the transfer status window to suspend a download. Because Navigator 4 caches the file that was being downloaded, you can just return to the original link and resume the download from where it stopped.

Note: This method works only if you stop the download by clicking the Cancel button in the transfer status window or the Stop button in Navigator. If your modem loses the connection or you disconnect in some other way, it won't work.

QUICK SEARCH
If you don't know the address of a site you want, you can do a search directly from Communicator. Simply type a phrase describing what you are seeking - for example, "Hawaii vacation" - in the Netsite box. You will notice the name of the box change to Go to as you type. Press Enter, and one of several popular search engines will present a list of sites containing these words.

FREEDOM OF CHOICE - UNINSTALL MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER
It's easy to get Internet Explorer off your desktop - simply follow these step-by-step instructions.

SET NETSCAPE COMMUNICATOR AS YOUR DEFAULT BROWSER
Does your computer constantly ask you if you want Internet Explorer as your default browser? You can stop those messages and set Communicator as your default browser at the same time by following these step-by-step instructions.
